10 Things to Do On The Bay
  1. Visit one of the many state parks that border the Chesapeake Bay. Spend the day fishing at Susquehanna State Park or visit the swimming beaches at Sandy Point State Park.

  2. Become a volunteer at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The expansive St. Michaels, MD museum is a popular tourist destination and is always accepting volunteers in a variety of capacities.

  3. Book a fishing trip with one of the many charter boats operating in the Chesapeake Bay region. Charter captains will provide everything you need for a day of fishing on the Bay and many will even clean and fillet your catch.

  4. Spend the night in one of the region’s numerous bed and breakfasts. Many B&Bs are located in historic towns and are situated within walking distance to local attractions.

  5. Stop by one of the various festivals, art shows, or regattas happening year round in the Chesapeake Bay region.

  6. Get back in touch with nature and spend the weekend camping at a state park or commercial campground on or near the Bay.

  7. Visit one of the region's many farmers' markets and stock up on locally produced fruits, vegatables, and other agricultural products.

  8. Download the Trust's free Field Guide to the Chesapeake Bay for your iPhone and go bird-watching at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.

  9. Rediscover the natural beauty of the Bay with a full- or half-day kayaking tour. Tours are often available 7 days a week and many companies provide basic instruction along with all of the necessary equipment.

  10. Join a watershed organization. These non-profit groups work hard to actively preserve the Bay’s rivers and streams.
