- Visit one of the many state parks that border the Chesapeake Bay. Spend the day fishing at Susquehanna State Park or visit the swimming beaches at Sandy Point State Park.
- Become a volunteer at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The expansive St. Michaels, MD museum is a popular tourist destination and is always accepting volunteers in a variety of capacities.
- Book a fishing trip with one of the many charter boats operating in the Chesapeake Bay region. Charter captains will provide everything you need for a day of fishing on the Bay and many will even clean and fillet your catch.
- Spend the night in one of the region’s numerous bed and breakfasts. Many B&Bs are located in historic towns and are situated within walking distance to local attractions.
- Stop by one of the various festivals, art shows, or regattas happening year round in the Chesapeake Bay region.
- Get back in touch with nature and spend the weekend camping at a state park or commercial campground on or near the Bay.
- Visit one of the region's many farmers' markets and stock up on locally produced fruits, vegatables, and other agricultural products.

- Rediscover the natural beauty of the Bay with a full- or half-day kayaking tour. Tours are often available 7 days a week and many companies provide basic instruction along with all of the necessary equipment.
- Join a watershed organization. These non-profit groups work hard to actively preserve the Bay’s rivers and streams.
